A tribute to the brightest stars of CET

By: Nimisha Acharya
Life is not a bed of roses. It is uncertain, unpredictable and often cruel. There are times when we realize how merciless fate can be. None of us would ever forget 28th March, 2015. Each and every CETian received the shock of their lives when they learned that two of the most brilliant and talented students of the college, Viswa Ranjan Pati and Diptiman Jena are no more. Both of them were in their final year, placed in two of the best companies and having a huge list of accomplishments, be it in studies or extra-curricular activities. They were the crucial cogs in the wheel of Mechanical, final year.

They were well renowned in the entire college. Spreading smiles wherever they went, everyone loved and respected them. No one had ever imagined in their worst nightmares that they would be snatched away from us at such a young age and in such an unfortunate way. We never even got the chance to say the final goodbye.

The whole college has been in mourning since one week. On Monday, a condolence meet was held to remember the departed souls. There was a huge turnout at the main stage with all the teachers and most of the students being present. A video presentation was showcased as a tribute to them. Candles were lit, people wrote their messages for them and all of us paid our last respects to two of the brightest stars of CET.

It is our honour and privilege to be in the same college as these two great people. We would always cherish their memories and they would live in our hearts forever. May their souls rest in peace.
